Lemont Furnace is a small unincorporated community located in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. It is situated approximately 55 miles southeast of Pittsburgh and is part of the Uniontown Micropolitan Statistical Area.
The community is primarily residential, with a mixture of single-family homes, apartments, and townhouses. It is served by the Laurel Highlands School District and is home to Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, which offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs.
Historically, the area was known for its iron furnaces, which produced pig iron for use in manufacturing. The most significant of these was the Lemont Furnace, which was operated by the Union Coal and Iron Company in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, the site is home to the Lemont Furnace Industrial Park.
